Thursday Pootie and Woozle Diary
Thu Aug 28, 2008 at 12:43:27 PM PDT
Those of you who already either know me or know of me know that I am a massive pootie person. We are currently unable to have a cat, due to living in a motel; however I grew up with both cats & dogs and I love both. I do not discriminate against any animal & love animal photos of all kinds. Please enjoy the following and add any photos that you think the community would like to see.
Just two things to remember:
- NO INFIGHTING WITH OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS
- NO DISCUSSION OF ANY ISSUE FROM ANY OTHER DIARY
Now, enjoy the photos & have some fun. :)

Today I was invited to the Hispanic Caucus for a morning of tribute, blogging and comraderie with the Hispanic legislators of our country at the invitation of fellow Kossack, Obama Super Delegate from Colorado, fellow garden blogger and Colorado DNC committeewoman...Green Chile Democrat.

John and Ken Salazar were the featured lead-off speakers which included a visit by Howard Dean and Hillary Clinton. Speakers included Senator Menendez of New Jersey, Congressperson Loreta Sanchez of California who all spoke of the dynamics of increased voter registration for the emerging Hispanic communities and demographics in America.

Arriving in Denver on Saturday, I took in some of the downtown sights and got a lay of the land. During the next few days I will share some of my experiences and video interviews with notables. As I diaried before, I have a set of questions that I will be asking to those who will allow me the time.
As well, I will share photos from various events and scenes from the convention.

Yes, The Big Tent is damn cool. (with photo evidence!)
Mon Aug 25, 2008 at 10:18:25 AM PDT
Here I am in Denver, CO. Sitting at my preferred station at the Big Tent. thereisnospoon, theKK and I drove here from Los Angeles--we got in last night after stopping Saturday night in Grand Junction. Which reminds me: if you haven't ever driven here from California, it's worth doing. The drive along the 70 once you get into Colorado is an astounding stretch of gorgeous scenery, and it's cheaper than flying if you're carpooling in a Prius!
I really didn't know what to expect from this place, but here's the best way I can describe it: it's like a mini-Netroots Nation on hyperdrive. Markos said that even though he had a convention pass, he wouldn't be spending hardly any time at all on the actual floor because the Big Tent was looking like the place to be.
Damn right.
SPOILER ALERT: Olympic Closing Ceremony Photo Essay
Sun Aug 24, 2008 at 02:18:53 PM PDT
Since Beijing (and that would be Peking to McSame) is about 12 hours ahead of us here in the states, the Closing Ceremonies are finished.
And while NBC will keep you waiting, the BBC, ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company) and the official Beijing Olympic website are more generous in sharing the events in real-time. (In fact if you were in a UK territory, you could watch it right on your 'puter.) So h/t to all of them for these pics.
So let the games now close:

Almost live from Springfield: Report and Photos From the Front Row! (UPDATED: New Pix!)
Sat Aug 23, 2008 at 07:51:25 PM PDT
You've read the front page posts on the Springfield rally, and perhaps watched it on television. If it looked exciting on television, it was nothing compared to actually being there! This was a very interesting day, so let's get right to the highlights!

I was at the rally today. I was hot as all get out.

My pics of the Obama Biden event in Springfield

There are better pics out there but I thought people might be interested in my view from the crowd.
Pictures of Obama, Biden and their wives are at my blog here.
Other pictures from the event are here.
My perspective from being in the audience is that they both gave excellent speeches and made the case that Biden is a strong choice.

Got a Happy Story? Coney Island Edition
Fri Aug 22, 2008 at 05:13:12 PM PDT
Good evening and welcome to this gathering where we can post whatever is making us happy and share those little pleasures of life with each other.
My story tonight is a bit longer and much more informative than than usual. It is even political and of course I took some pictures for you to see. It is long but there is the occasional Easter egg.
Tonight my story is both a public service message and a happy story of time well spent.
The public service message, the last great amusement park in New York City, Astroland is getting very close to the final day when New Yorkers can enjoy a day of family fun.

This amusement park is just a shadow of its former glory and can hardly compete with my childhood memories of Coney Island but after Labor Day it will be closed on weekdays and after September it may never open again. So get there if you can.
And my happy story is that three weeks ago I did go and had the time of my life.
